Utah launched in response to a growing need for overdose education and life-saving access to naloxone across the state.
The Utah Chapter of The Naloxone Project was established to address a critical gap in hospital-based naloxone distribution across the state. Despite more than 42,000 emergency department visits by individuals at high risk of overdose, recent data shows that very few emergency departments are currently providing naloxone at discharge. This represents a significant missed opportunity to intervene at a crucial moment.
With overdose deaths continuing to rise—particularly among vulnerable populations—the need for action is urgent. The Utah Chapter is committed to expanding access to naloxone and reducing preventable deaths through hospital engagement and collaboration.
We are proud to partner with Comagine Health and are actively working to build strong relationships with key stakeholders statewide. Together, we aim to implement sustainable, evidence-based strategies that empower healthcare providers to deliver lifesaving care when it matters most.
